Honey is magical in this way too. Only the worker bees develop special wax-producing glands on their abdomens – and when they eat honey these glands convert the sugar into wax. The wax is then extruded through small pores as tiny wax scales, transparent initially, but our busy ladies then chew the wax making it white in colour.
Honey Bee Magic
This mastication adding saliva softens the wax -which is then used to build the honeycombs that are home to the brood, a storage space for pollen, and a storage space for surplus honey that the honey bees need to feed on in the Winter. So if you are lucky to be burning a 100% pure beeswax candle remember that a lot of magic went into lighting your life up.
