What a fantastic celebration the day was!

This World Bee Day, we honour the honey bee not only as a cornerstone of biodiversity but also as a source of healing for our planet and ourselves. From pollinating the plants that nourish us to producing natural remedies like honey, propolis, royal jelly, bee pollen, beeswax, and even venom, these remarkable creatures have been quietly supporting human and ecological health for millennia.

This year’s theme is a call to action.

Communities across South Africa celebrated the vital role of honey bees in our lives. We marked the occasion with a fresh focus—giving away tickets to key events across the country to help more people connect, learn, and be inspired by these powerful pollinators.

Lucky draws were nicely supported and our winners are published in the different giveaway sections.

Every year this day comes around and a part of me feels like a mother celebrating her child’s birthday. It strikes me as such a primal connection that hits home each time I write about protecting a legacy that is over 125 million years in time, a legacy that is linked to this perfect symbiotic relationship between a flower and a honey bee. One without the other does not exist. Over 125 million years ago, a kind of magic happened, our world filled with colour, with scents, and new sound.

Launching the Seasons Series

For World Bee Day, the imageMILL team and Rick travelled to Fujino to plant flowers specifically selected to attract bees—supporting pollination, enriching the soil, and deepening environmental awareness.

They will share their experience to show the progress of the project and educate audiences on the critical role of bees in sustaining biodiversity.

The imageMILL team also filmed the first episode of their “Seasons” series, along with construction updates—capturing an inspiring moment in their ongoing journey.

Take a slow wander along The Honey Route and visit one of our incredible partners who live and breathe bees. From tasting tables and farm stalls to immersive bee experiences, every stop is a celebration of pollinators, people, and the sweet things they make possible.

✨ Because sometimes, the best way to honour bees… is to spend time in their world.

Join us as we target planting 36 000 trees that are good nectar and pollen sources in reforestation projects in the Western Cape, projects that are part of Greenpop’s Forests for Life.

For every R150 donated, Greenpop is able to plant a tree in one of their forest restoration projects in the Western Cape. This cost includes the planting, maintenance and monitoring of the tree.
