A Spring Meadow Mix

We’ve stepped into Spring and you, me and our honey bees are anticipating glorious sensory experiences.

This is a great go-to mix put together by The Flower Cartel, much loved by our honey bees and along with the gorgeous experience for our senses in sight and smell, they have some good vibes for us too.

We’ve all but forgotten the beauty in the messages of flowers – remember how they were used in bygone era’s to express how one felt about someone else?  Sometimes sent secretly to each other.  Such a titillating and enchanting way of connecting with another person.  One can’t help but say that without our birds & the bees, the butterflies and our fairy-like pollinator world of so many creatures, it would never have come to be.

“She wore the scent of early Spring on her delicate neck and every kiss I stole tasted of bright yellow flowers and buzzing bees.” Michael Faudet

Lets see what our Meadow Mix may be saying for you and why honey bees enjoy them.

Borage

Represents courage and bravery, and it’s a super nectar and pollen source for our ladies.

Cosmos

For balance, tranquillity, peace, love, modesty, innocence, joy and beauty. Given the flowers mean I love you deeply. Abundant with nectar and pollen for our bees.

Fennel

For Flattery (in a good way) and strong, passionate love. Bees think it’s a good source of both nectar and pollen.

Nigella

Represents harmony and love, specifically symbolising the bonds that bind. With our ladies known to visit this ‘Love-in-the-mist’ for a dash of pollen and nectar.

Cornflower

Represents patience and romance symbolising a hope for love.  Enjoyed by honey bees for lovely pollen and nectar.

Carrot

Represents prosperity, abundance and fertility.  Good for our eyesight and slightly better in nectar than pollen for our honey bees.

Calendula (Marigold)

Symbolises warmth, better communication, and success. The yellow flower means happiness to come, while the orange flower means goodbye.  For our ladies, they are loved equally for their top-notch source of pollen and a splash of nectar.

Buckwheat

Symbolises abundance, harvest and wealth.  The flower is special between lovers as it means “lover”. It’s an awesome source of carbohydrate in nectar, balanced halfway with being a good source of protein in pollen for our girls.

Basil

Is a symbol of Love.  No surprise the flowers are loved for their great nectar, and good source in pollen.
